- <p> DIED. STUART ROOSA, 61, astronaut who flew the Apollo 14 command
- module Kitty Hawk during the third lunar landing mission in
- 1971; of complications from pancreatitis; in Falls Church, Virginia.
- Roosa orbited the moon in solitude, and often out of radio contact,
- while his fellow astronauts Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell
- explored the surface. Despite his historic flight, he told a
- writer this year, "Space changes nobody. You bring back from
- space what you bring into space." On Earth, Roosa owned a Mississippi
- beer distributorship.
